BVIP - K-12

 BVIP was created in 2008 in accordance with s. 1002.45 of the Florida Statutes.  BVIP is a full-time educational program provided to eligible students through a contracted service.  Brevard Public Schools will have two contracted services in place for the 2012-2013 school year.  As contract negotiations are completed, this section will be updated.  At this time, the K-8 contract with K12 Florida is complete.

Eligibility

Eligibility requirements below are in accordance with s. 1002.45, Florida Statues.  However, please note that the information presented below including changes made by House Bill 7063, passed during the 2012 Legislative Session.  This bill is currently awaiting the Governor’s approval or veto.  If the bill is vetoed, the eligibility requirements will be adjusted in accordance with state law.

To enroll in BVIP, the student must reside in Brevard County, have a positive history of attendance the semester prior to enrollment (if applicable) and meet one of the following additional requirements (s1002.455, F.S.):

  1. The student must have spent the prior school year in attendance at a public school in the state of Florida OR

  2. The student is the dependent child of a member of the military who was transferred in the last 12 months pursuant to the parent’s permanent change of station orders OR

  3. The student was enrolled during the prior school year in another school district’s virtual instruction program OR

  4. The student has a sibling who was enrolled in a district virtual instruction program during the 2011-2012 school year and the sibling will reenroll for the 2012-2013 school year OR

  5. The student is eligible to enter kindergarten or first grade OR

  6. The student is eligible to enter grades 2 through 5.
